The innerfight vision has been clear from the day I established the brand. I want to positively impact the lives of people around the world through the use of InnerFight training programs and services. When I sat down at the end of 2011 and looked forward to how I would do this in 2012 I had to think big, I had big plans, big ideas and was committed to making 2012 the most successful year yet for the InnerFight brand. Well let’s cut the chase and check out some of the results.
On an individual athlete level it has been an epic year:
We had five athletes competing in the CrossFit open (Benjamin Brodrick, Hani Hout, Chris Mues, Carrie Freestone, Mike Riley, Holly Purdy)
From our endurance athletes. Neil Flanagan has represented Great Britain in the world sprint distance triathlon championships.
Doris Matlok ran 250km self supported across the Sahara desert.
Jon Emery cycled across the Pyrenees in four days. Trudy Sturkenboom, Simona Foltyn, Chris Mc Vikars and Lisa Fenton completed Ironman events. Jo Edwards swam 10k. And a number of athletes completed individual triathlons at a number of distances.
On a class level we have firmly established two classes per day 5 days a week which are all full of awesome people achieving some incredible results. The commitment to training, performance and getting stronger from the likes of Marlene, Shakey, Kashif, Bamby, Tiny Mike, our awesome South African couple Jacque and Mignon and of course our old friends handsome Matt and captain Brooke’s has been motivating beyond belief. It has also been an unreal year for Neil Byrans who after his accident on September 19th 2011 is now well on his way to the best form of his life in time for his 40h birthday early in 2013. I of course must make mention of one of our youngest athletes, daughter of another 2012 revelation Duane Keighran, Alaani has a very brig future, check out her story here.
That’s a pretty insane set of highlights for the year and there are many more which I am sure I will take a pounding for missing out on!
In 2012 I had the privilege of addressing a number of school kids to reiterate the importance of movement and a healthy lifestyle in an age where fast food, reduced physical activity and less awareness of true health is erupting, I look forward to doing more of this work in the years to come.
A highlight for the brand in 2012 was the launch of the “Smash Life” seminar. This is something I had a vision for over a year ago so to bring it to life in 2012 was simply amazing. Having delivered 3 smash life seminars in 3 countries in 2012 and with dates booked in a further 4 countries already for 2013 this is something I am super excited about.
The launch of a more complete apparel line in 2012 was awesome. I managed to source great quality apparel from around the world and offer it at amazing prices. This year I have shipped apparel to over 12 countries! Unreal how the brand is growing.
Launching the InnerFight podcast in iTunes in the 4th quarter of 2012 was another landmark move for the brand. I was fortunate enough to interview some leading names in the global fitness industry and have a number more lined up for 2013. I will continue to publish my weekly radio show on Nightline with James Piecowye though the InnerFight podcast as well as exclusive interviews. On top of this I have just launched the official fortnightly podcast in which I will be giving news updates on the brand as well as using it as a Q&A platform to answer the many questions that I receive on a weekly basis. Just remember that your question today will be someone else’s tomorrow so through answering the this way I just see a broader and more beneficial share of information.
It has been awesome to complete another year as a major contributor to Men’s Fitness magazine. This has been a great 3 year relationship and one that is only getting stronger. It is a world leading fitness title, a pleasure to write for them and their support of the InnerFight brand is unreal.
On a personal level 2012 was a great year for my fitness. I once again competed in the CrossFit games Asia regional placing 7th amongst increasingly tough competition. My goals for 2012 were based around increased strength and the development of new skills, if you follow my training log on the site and have seen some of my videos on you tube then I am sure you will agree that both of these boxes have been ticked. I am super lucky to have an awesome team of training partners around me in “Danny the dog”, “The Ruski”‘ and “Kiwi Matt”. Awesome guys who work unbelievably hard in the gym and have an unreal ability to smash cupcakes, we are lucky to have such an awesome supplier in Sweet Stuff!
Thank you no matter who you are for your awesome support of the InnerFight brand in 2012. I sincerely hope that either through the InnerFight classes, the Smash Life seminar, the over 100 free training programs on the site or by the excess of 100 blog posts shared in 2012 that InnerFight has helped you in your quest to be the best you can be and get the most out of our life. I am pumped for 2013 and making it an even bigger and better year.
All the best and as always stay strong.
